In line with local youth aspirations, Apraava Energy promotes development of sports facilities and supports upgradation of sports infrastructure in villages around its Jhajjar plant. Apart from providing sports equipment, training and monetary support, Apraava Energy also nurtures female talent in sports and contributes towards bringing a positive change in the outlook of villagers.
Apraava Energy’s sports programme in Jhajjar has grown and evolved over the years, during which the company has established robust sports infrastructure in catchment villages.
The academy has made champions who currently represent the nation on the global stage and win medals. The number of wrestlers training at the Apraava-supported Krishan Akhara, Khanpur Khurd village at Jhajjar has increased exponentially through the years. The academy, with its gender-agnostic approach, offers high quality training in wrestling by certified trainers, for both girls and boys at the village level. It continues to encourage local communities to enroll interested girls and boys into the training programme.
The academy was set up in 2014-15 by JPL in partnership with a community-based organization and the village leadership.
