Environment

Apraava Energy is committed to the highest standards of business operations in harmony with the environment following the philosophy of conservation and protection. Apraava’s business strategy is also aligned for the betterment of the environment, and therefore going forward it will invest only in low carbon business.

The company takes responsibility of environmental stewardship seriously and continuously strives to reduce its ecological footprint. Jhajjar Power Limited (JPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Apraava Energy which operates the super-critical thermal power plant, is equipped with the latest pollution control technologies. It has real time continuous emissions monitoring systems and ambient air quality monitoring systems installed at the thermal power plant to measure Particulate Matter (PM), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), and Sulphur Oxides (SOx). JPL is the only thermal power plant in Delhi-NCR region that installed the Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) technology in 2008, much before the government mandate in 2019.

The company's JPL plant is a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant. All the wastewater is treated and reused within the plant premises for dust suppression at various locations, horticulture, cleaning, and other suitable purposes. Apraava Energy has steadily progressed towards zero waste to landfill by increasing fly ash and gypsum utilisation reaching 100% utilisation.

We, at Apraava, are dedicated to ensuring the responsible and sustainable growth of our business. This includes a thorough evaluation of the potential environmental and social impacts of our projects. Since 2007, we have conducted Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) for all of our greenfield renewable projects to identify and mitigate any potential risks. Additionally, we conduct Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) on all mergers and acquisitions to ensure they align with our commitment to sustainability. These assessments help us make informed decisions and develop strategies to minimize harm to the environment and communities. By prioritizing sustainability in all our projects, we are committed to making a positive impact on the world.

Apraava Energy has partnered with CII Foundation on a community programme to encourage local farmers to adopt sustainable methods of crop residue management in Haryana since 2019. Key interventions included provision of technological tools bank, behaviour change training and exploring locally relevant ex-situ options for straw management.
