Volunteering with Future Leaders
Apraava Energy actively promotes a culture of volunteering by encouraging employees to engage with communities through various initiatives. To support this, employees are offered one day of dedicated volunteering leave each year, providing them the flexibility to support causes close to their hearts. After all, making a difference should be a choice, not a challenge.
As part of these efforts, Apraava's employees regularly visit schools to inspire young minds and nurture scientific curiosity. One such initiative involved conducting a balloon-powered car experiment, which helped students understand the fundamentals of speed, distance, and time in an engaging and interactive way. Beyond the experiment, volunteers introduced key scientific concepts, fostering curiosity and logical thinking among students.
Reflecting on the experience, Jaison Rebello, Manager - Corporate Communications, shared, “It was incredibly fun and nostalgic being part of this volunteering initiative. I had a great time with our volunteering group, interacting with this curious and energetic bunch and learning about scientific concepts together. In my view, scientific thinking in young minds is necessary for a country or community to progress. The curiosity and openness to learning displayed by the kids made me realize how essential these skills are in our corporate world. I’m so proud of Apraava Energy for always encouraging us to contribute towards a larger purpose for society beyond chasing our individual ambitions. It not only fills us with joy and contentment but also brings smiles to those around us.”
Highlighting Apraava's commitment to meaningful social impact, Gopinath Govindan, Director – HR, Apraava Energy, stated, “Our approach to volunteering is similar to our approach to business – purpose-led, action-driven, and impact-conscious.”
In addition to science-based initiatives, Apraava's volunteers engage in various skill-based activities throughout the year, including dancing, painting, storytelling, and mentoring, further enriching the learning experience for young minds.
